Changchun, the capital city of China’s northeastern Jilin province, has given out the first of its long-term work permits to expats.
A ceremony was held on Tuesday as a whole THREE foreigners were given their China work visas.
These three are the first to be bestowed with the honor since the implementation of seven new exit and entry policies on Dec. 12.
The policies aim to attract high-level foreign talent to the business and innovation-focused Changchun New Area.
Chinese-American Jack Zhang Ke, who works for car manufacturers FAW Group, was the first to received is shiny new ID card.
Entrepreneur Ipatenkova Yuliiai was given a five-year residence permit to start a business after graduating with honors from the city’s curiously named Northeast Normal University.
He Kai, a Colombian who has worked in a technology company in Changchun for six years already, also bagged himself a five-year work permit.
The rest of us can only dream of being so desirable.
"We will provide more convenience to talented foreigners in the future in order to attract more talent to Changchun," said Hu Jiafu, Secretary of the Political and Legal Committee of Jilin province. "It will greatly promote the development of Changchun New Area."
