2016 Provinces with the Largest Population: Guangdong Takes Crown

Population census for 31 provinces in the first half of 2016 has been completed. China has a total of 1.375 billion permanent residents and the only province to record a permanently residing population over 100 million is Guangdong, with 108 million.

Top 10 provinces with permanently residing population over 50 million are ranked as Guangdong, Shandong, Henan, Sichuan, Jiangsu, Hebei, Hunan, Anhui, Hubei, Zhejiang respectively. Tibet, Qinghai, Ningxia and Hainan rounded up the bottom tier in terms of permanently residing population, all with less than 10 million.
