Just two days before their scheduled Shanghai concert on August 21, Aerosmith have cancelled their upcoming concerts in Shanghai and Taipei “due to circumstances beyond [their] control”. Are we disappointed? Yes. Surprised? No.
This kind of last-minute cancellation is a recurring issue in China and is more often than not truly beyond the control of the band. In an official statement on Aerosmith’s official website, the band had this to day:
“It is with sincere regret that AEROSMITH has announced that it must cancel two previously scheduled festival gigs Wednesday, August 21 in Shanghai and Saturday, August 24 in Taipei. AEROSMITH shares the disappointment of their supportive fans in Shanghai and Taipei and they hope to see them soon.
‘We are extremely upset to have disappointed our dedicated fans,’ says Steven Tyler. ‘They have welcomed us into their country and due to uncontrollable circumstances we will not be able to perform. We were so excited to share our music with them and look forward to one day returning and giving them the show they deserve.’”
While the official promoter in China has yet to make an official announcement, Shanghaiist.com is reporting that refunds will be given at the Hongkou Stadium between 10:00-22:00 on August 21 or at Room 2609, 200 Ninghai Dong Lu (near Zhejiang Nan Lu) between 10:00-18:00 (Except for August 21). Moreover, Smart Ticket and Ticket247 are also said to be handling refunds.

Thank you. Okay, that is the reason. Honestly, even if it is for half the price, i would not like to come see old farting guys, 20 years after their zenith. sad, but true. 20 years ago, i may pay for ticket that much, but i was teenager, so I simply missed them :D
