Skiing in Shijiazhuang – Where to Hit the Slopes

Instead of hiding away from the cold inside, why not embrace the chill outside by indulging in a weekend of winter sports? Shijiazhuang boasts a number of popular ski slopes such as the Qingliang Mountain Ski Resort on the outskirts or the Xibaipo Hot Springs which now also has a newly opened slope. For true adventurers there’s the Wanlong Ski Resort at nearby city Zhangjiakou where more experienced skiers are put to the test with its steep slopes.  But no matter which resort you choose, Shijiazhuang offers plenty of choice for skiers of all levels.   

 

1) Qingliang Mountain Ski ResortView In Map
Around 48 kilometers from the city, Qingliang Mountain Resort features 100 meter slopes for beginner, intermediate and advanced skiers, and has a capacity of around 3,000 people. Aside from skiing, visitors can also have fun cycling or motorcycling, relaxing in a horse-drawn sleigh ride, or try their hand at ice-skating.

2) Nangaoji Park Ski ResortView In Map
Located in the city, the Nangaoji Ski Resort is a more convenient getaway for those looking for a quick run on the slopes. Amid an area of over 20,000 square meters lie slopes for children and adults of all levels. The resort also boasts a mysterious magic carpet ride, as well as dog-powered sledges and other fun activities.

3) Xibaipo Hot Spring Ski ResortView In Map
The newly opened, tri-sloped Xibaopo Hot Spring Ski Resort not only caters for skiers of all abilities, there are also, of course, hot springs nearby to warm up in either pre or post ski. Guests can also enjoy the on-site facilities as well as handy cable-cars to lift advanced skiers up to the lofty slopes. For beginner and intermediate skiers respectively, there are useful ski equipment bags available that make carrying gear much more convenient.

4) Wanlong Ski ResortView In Map
Although actually positioned in nearby Zhangjiakou’s Chongli County, the pricier Wanlong Ski Resort features a comprehensive total of 22 different slopes for all abilities with the longest slope, Jinlong (金龙需道), being an impressive 2,110.3 meters in total. Already recognized by the International Ski Federation (FIS) as a top resort, Wanlong holds the correct qualifications to hold Alpine skiing competitions. The resort also features cable cars that can also be used to take in the local scenery if you don’t want to ski.
