The summer blockbusters are here! Head indoors, grab some friends (or a hot date) and lounge in a luxury chair at one of Wuxi's many movie theatres. While there are number of different cinemas to choose from around town, they all cost about the same to catch a flick. We've rounded up the great and the not-so-great theaters so you can get the most out of your money.

1) Zhongying International CinemaView In Map
Zhongying International Cinema (中影国际影城) is located in the Baolong City Plaza, near the Carrefour. The movie theatre complex has six screens, with room for over a thousand theatregoers to sit comfortably. The theatre was recently updated with 3D capacities and a killer sound system, so the movie quality is great. The cinema offers group discounts on their website, so be sure to check for deals online before you head over.

2) Peace CinemaView In Map
The Peace Cinema (和平电影院) has seven screens, four of which now have 3D capacity. Peace Cinema is the oldest cinema in Wuxi and plays an important part in its film history. Older residents approach the theater with a sense of nostalgia, as many came here with their families when they were children. If you are looking for a luxury theatre this is not it, but it is still an important part of the Wuxi experience.

3) Big World Cineplex View In Map
Wuxi's Big World Cineplex (大世界影城) is a luxurious and modern movie theater with a five-star national rating since its opening in 2002. The cinema frequently hosts film festivals and events including the 11th Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival, a Russian Cultural festival and a Russian Film week. In 2009, the movie theatre updated its facilities so that IMAX can be shown on every screen. This theatre is very popular, so book tickets in advance, especially if you are booking group tickets.

4) Wanda International Cinema View In Map
The Wanda International Cinema (万达国际影城) is one of the largest in Wuxi. The movie theater has eight screens as well as a VIP room, however only one of these has 3D capacity. But don't let that deter you from coming here: the theater recently installed a massive 4D screen that is great for watching action movies (although the tickets are slightly more expensive).

5) Jinyi International CinemaView In Map
Wuxi Jinyi International Cinema (金逸国际电影城) has seven movie theatres, and is definitely the place to bring your date for a snuggle session, as the chairs are designed as “couple seats”, with an adjustable armrest in the middle for maximum cuddling. However, while tickets at Jinyi are cheap, the picture quality is not spectacular; their 3D screen in particular is so dark that you can't really see much of anything. So if you're interested in spending some quality time with your date, come here. If you're interested in actually watching a move, look elsewhere.

6) Mulin International CinemaView In Map
Located at the intersection of Guangyi Lu and Guangnan Lu, the Mulin International Cinema (睦邻国际影城) is a fairly small movie theater with five screens and 900 seats. Mulin's main draw is a recently upgraded 400-seat digital movie screen, which is 14 m across and boasts a top-of-the-line sound system. The movie theater itself is fairly average, but the new screen is definitely worth checking out.

7) Jiahe CinemaView In Map
Jiahe Cinema (嘉禾影城) features 10 deluxe screens as well as a VIP screen, comfortably seating up to 1900 theatregoers at a time. The theaters all have stadium seating, so every seat in the house has a great view.
