12 Killed, 5 Arrested in Xinjiang Bombing

On Friday January 24, police shot dead six attackers, while another six died in an explosion, local authorities revealed on Saturday.

According to the Xinjiang government announcement, two explosions took place in a beauty salon and a grocery store in Xinhe county, Aksu prefecture. When the police were making arrests a group of terrorist suspects began throwing explosives at police. The police opened fire and killed six.

Another six suspects were killed in a car explosion they sent themselves when they were surrounded by police.

The police have arrested five people suspects in connection with the attacks. No civilians were hurt in the bombings and only one policeman was injured, albeit not very severely.
