Believe it or not, Shenyang offers several great swimming pools to get you in that quintessential summer mood. The Municipal Government Pool was recently renovated and is now better (and cleaner) than ever. North-Eastern University's swimming pool—although a bit pricey—offers great amenities and service. And don't forget the Jinhai'an Swimming Pool, which features a children's play area and is fun for the whole family.

1) Provincial Government Swimming Pool View In Map
Long considered one of Shenyang's best swimming pools, the Provincial Government Swimming Pool (省政府游泳馆) is now better than ever due to recent renovations. Better yet, admission to the pool is now even cheaper than before! The pool itself is 50 m long by 25 m wide and has horizontal swimming lanes available at depths of 1.2, 1.6 and 2.2 m. In the morning, you'll often share the pool with just a handful of other swimmers, but even during busier times, it doesn't get too crowded. And if you don't know how to swim, beginner's lessons with a coach are available in the shallow area of the pool.

2) North-Eastern University Swimming Pool View In Map
Although it's touted as an Olympic-size public swimming pool, the North-Eastern University Swimming Pool (东北大学游泳馆) is actually a bit smaller and the deep end area isn't very large. Granted, the only people who might have a problem with this are professional swimmers. Although the pool is part of North-Eastern University, it's also open to the public. This pool is comparatively more expensive for non-students, and can get quite busy during the summer, in part due to its high-level amenities. Weekends are generally quite busy, so if you choose to come here, it's best to come during a weekday.

3) Jinhai'an Swimming Pool View In Map
Jinhai'an Swimming Pool (金海岸游泳馆) features an Olympic-sized pool with ten lanes as well as a children's play pool. The facility is well managed, with storage lockers available to rent for frequent swimmers and swimming supplies available to purchase if you forget to bring any important items with you. This pool is one of Shenyang's most popular, so summer weekends can get especially crowded. Beat the crowds by going during the mornings or on a weekday.
